Robert BurnsThe Highlights
Robert Burns (1759-1796), Scotland's national poet, is most famous for his song Auld Lang Syne.
The statue of Robert Burns is on the Mall across from Sir Walter Scott, another Scottish literary figure. Burns is depicted sitting on a tree stump and his poem to his love, Mary, is written on a scroll at his feet. The Literary Walk, found at the southern end of the Mall, contains statues of such well-known literary figures as William Shakespeare, Sir Walter Scott, and Robert Burns among others.
