Cherry Hill FountainThe Highlights
This ornate fountain is the centerpiece of a circular concourse at the crest of Cherry Hill.
Located just to the west of Bethesda Fountain, in a circular plaza in Cherry Hill, the circle was designed as a scenic turn-around for carriages, and the Victorian fountain as a watering trough for horses. Though no horses drink from the Fountain today, they and their carriages still frequent the area, available for park-goers who wish to take a scenic drive in one of these old-fashioned vehicles. The fountain's water flows from eight small flowers into a circle of bowls, spilling into a rounded granite skirt before falling into a sculpted bluestone basin inset with Minton tiles. Crowning this 14-foot high tower are eight frosted round glass lamps and a golden spire. For years the fountain ran dry until it was restored in 1998. Today, Cherry Hill Fountain is a popular destination for photography and film.
