Central Park offers tourists and locals alike a chance to escape some of the noise and bustle of NYC and enter a zone of nature, art, and relaxation. There are many opportunities for natural exploration, places to picnic, areas for sports and fitness, and countless works of art and cultural activities scattered all around the park. With so much to do, it can be hard to know where to start unless you're in the know. Bike Rental Central Park offers tours to guide you to the best highlights, but if you're thinking of renting a bike from us and setting out on your own, check out these tips for visiting Central Park that can help you have the best experience possible.

Central Park Tourist Tips

These tips for visiting Central Park will help a first-timer show up prepared and ready to have a good time.

  • Carry a map with you when visit Central Park, whether it's a physical map or your phone's GPS system. Central Park is so sprawling that if you set out on your own without a tour guide, it can be easy to get lost. The map will guide you back to the nearest exits and help you find the attractions you're searching for.

  • Make time for one of the park's many events. There are so many that happen at all times of the year that odds are good that something unique and exciting is happening on your visit day. Check out the park's schedule of events to see what's happening before you go.

  • A Central Park tourist should always know where the visitor centers are. They're a source of all the information you could need when visiting the park. You can find visitor centers at Belvedere Castle, the Charles A. Dana Discovery Center, Chess and Checkers House, the Columbus Circle Information Kiosk, and the Dairy Visitor Center.

Bicycle Touring Tips

Our guides will make sure you're totally prepared to start out your cycling adventure with all the gear and information you need, but remember to keep these bicycle touring tips in mind before you go. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask our guides: They'll be happy to point you in the right direction.

  • Know what time attractions close for the day and on which holidays they might be closed. You don't want to cycle all the way there only to be disappointed.

  • Remember the rental hours. Please return bikes in accordance with your rental agreement so you can avoid any extra fees.

  • Always wear a helmet. It's best to be safe, especially in a crowded place like Central Park, where it's best to expect the unexpected.

  • Yield to pedestrians. This is required by the biking laws in Central Park and helps to reduce pedestrian and cyclist accidents and injuries.

  • Our bikes are equipped with lights and reflectors, but you may want to consider wearing clothing with additional reflectors for even better visibility.

  • Biking on a rainy day? Make sure your electronics are protected by a waterproof bag that can zip or seal closed.

  • Wear a hat and/or sunglasses to protect your eyes. This will shield them from rain and protect you from pesky bugs and the sun's rays.
